5th Annual Bluebonnet Tour

Tazilon Brenner | Published on 4/13/2025
Every April, the DFW Chapter runs down to Ennis to tour the bluebonnet fields surrounding the town.  Despite a dry winter resulting in fewer bluebonnets than usual this year, the show must go on - and it did!

Tazilon, Jennifer, and Abi Brenner make multiple scouting runs during late March, early April to locate the best fields and design a route that highlights the best fields of flowers.  The tour usually includes lunch at a local restaurant.  We used to end at the Sugar Ridge Winery; however a couple of years ago 2 different drunk patrons hit either a car or a fence leaving the winery and thjeir insujrance made them impose rules that are not conducive to groups such as ours, so we skip the winery now.

We had multiple cars have to drop out for a variety of reasons the day before the event (both mechanical and illness) and the poor overall bluebonnet forecast this year dampered attendance, but we still had 8 cars attend (typically, we have 15-20).  We had 1 gentleman drive in from Leavenworth Kansas (8 hours away) for the event!

The tour went well except for getting stuck in town by a train that stopped lengthwise across Ennis, shutting down all roads for about 20- minutes...lol  Oh well :)

After enjoying the drive and flowers, we had lunch at Bella Italia Restaurant.

Here are some pictures from the tour:
